Playtest FAQ
Before Early Access, Operation Echo Canyon runs invited playtests in waves. Here's how they work.
Getting in
How do I get invited?
Testers are invited in waves. The first wave comes from the Discord community. To be considered:
- Join the Discord server.
- When account sign-up opens, create your account and link Discord (see Getting started).
- Run
/playtest requestin Discord to join the queue for the next wave.
We can't promise everyone a spot in every wave. Each wave is announced in #announcements.
I can request access on Steam. Am I in?
The playtest has its own Steam page, and Steam lets anyone request it. Requesting installs the build, but only invited accounts can play; everyone else sees "This build is for invited testers". If you're invited, you'll get an email and a Discord role.
What happens when I'm invited?
- You get an invite by email and the Playtester role in Discord.
- Sign in on the account page, link Discord if you haven't, and accept the tester agreement.
- Your activation key appears on the account page and in your email. Enter it when the playtest build asks for it.
- Your wave's channels open in the Playtest category.
The tester agreement
It's one page, and you accept it on the account page before you can play. In short:
- Keep it private. Don't stream, post videos or post screenshots of the playtest without written permission from the team.
- Don't share builds or keys. Your key only works for your account anyway.
- Feedback can be used. Ideas and reports you send can be used to improve the game.
- Access can be withdrawn, for example if footage leaks or the rules are broken.
A copy is emailed to you when you accept. Playtest builds show a short code tied to your account on the screen, so leaked footage can be traced back to the account it came from.
During the playtest
How do I report a bug?
- Post in your wave's bug forum in Discord, or
- run
/report bugin Discord. The report goes straight to the team's tracker and you get an ID back.
Helpful reports say what you did, what you expected and what happened, plus the map and roughly when. Screenshots and clips are welcome in the playtest channels.
How do I report a cheater or abusive player?
Run /report player in Discord with the in-game name, the raid and what happened.
Does my progress carry over to Early Access?
No. Playtests run on separate test servers, and their stashes and progress are test data. Expect resets between waves as well.
What do I need to run it?
A Windows PC with Steam. System requirements will be published on the Steam page before the first wave.
After the playtest
When a playtest closes, the build stops letting you in. Invites to later waves go to the Discord community first, and playtest feedback shapes what ships in Early Access.
